Join Us in Boston, Massachusetts in 2025!

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) is excited to announce the 42nd Annual Conference with the theme From Invisible to Visible: Research, Clinical and Cultural Evolutions in the Field of Complex Trauma and DissociationTrauma and Dissociation! The conference will be held March 13-17, 2025, at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza, Boston, MA, USA.

ISSTD has been welcoming professionals working with complex trauma and dissociation for four decades. The ISSTD Annual Conference offers a time and place to connect with fellow clinicians and researchers in the field from around the world, sharing knowledge and wisdom! We invite you to co-create this conference, sharing your experience and expertise in this field and learning together. Over the years, the conference has been held at various locations to increase accessibility to a variety of mental health professionals.

A compassionate, therapeutic, well-bounded relationship is the one thing that is consistently shown to facilitate positive change. As dignity is considered an antidote to shame, a society that can support dignity will minimize shame for its citizens, and reduce inter-personal and inter-generational transmission of trauma. Children often experience shame because their behaviors are under constant observation. For them, dignity involves understanding their behaviors and helping them understand themselves. Dignity thus becomes an important factor in understanding and addressing complex trauma and dissociation. The conference aims to explore the healing power of dignity in the treatment and research of complex trauma and dissociation as the central theme.

Call for Proposals for the conference is now closed. Thank you to all who submitted a proposal. Proposal decisions will be made by early October and all submitters will be notified by email once decisions are made. We anticipate opening a second call for poster presentations in early November.

This conference will not be livestreamed and all presenters must present live in-person in Boston. No presenters will be streamed into the conference. If you are not able to present in-person, your submission will not be accepted.

The conference schedule and registration will open by early November. We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
